How to Promote Yourself as a Faith-Based Artist

Jul 15, 2021

As we all know releasing music takes a lot of planning to do it right. Once the song is mastered and ready to release the work is only half way done. Putting together a plan for a strategic release can make all the difference.

I wanted to share a simple formula we have used for my own releases and many artists I have worked with.  By having a plan in place it can make the process of releasing fun, less stressful and more impactful.

Post 1: Teaser Audiogram

As soon as your pre-save link is generated, share a teaser clip using a site like headliner.app This is a great opportunity to share some of the song and the album artwork.

Post 2: Tell the story

Video is a great way to connect and tell the story behind your song.1-2 weeks out, whether live or pre recorded, share a video talking about the meaning/ process behind your song and why you are releasing it.

 Post 3: Acoustic Clip

roughly one week out from release Day share a live performance of your song (It can be PRE-RECORDED) This does not "have" to be high production value, it just needs to be honest and relatable.

Post 4: One last clip

The day before your release, share another clip of your song.It might be a different part of the audiogram you made in post 1 or could even be a snippet of the lyric or music video if you have one.

Post 5: Release day

Let people know your song is out by sharing whichever type of content had the best engagement. This is also a great time to share your full Length music or lyric video if you have one made.

Also make sure to encourage people to like/share/add your song to their playlists. This is a great way to get the ALGORITHM to push your song out.

TIP: Post to ALL of your social media platforms with each post including:

instagram: Feed story, Reels, IGTV

 Facebook: Feed, Story, Pages

 TikTok: Feed, Live

YouTube: Share Full Length versions

With each release cycle you will learn the best type of content for your followers. Keep implementing and experimenting and you will refine your skills and continue to gain traction. This can be a tedious process, but if we want our music to be heard, putting in the extra effort will help us achieve maximum reach.
